Gopinathan, said in a farewell note to employees that one of the companys major achievements has been the representation of women in the workforce.
Gopinathan, who steps down on Wednesday after 22 years with the country's largest IT services company, said that with over 200,000 women, TCS is one of the biggest employers of women in science and technology. About 35% of the company's over 6 lakh employees are women.
Gopinathan said there has been a 100% increase in the number of women in leadership positions in the last six years. Today, 30% of our business development and delivery managers are women. Likewise, out of the 3,414 unique patent holders, 794 are women, Gopinathan said in the letter.
He touched upon the companys mid-level transformation programme, which is one of the key upskilling programmes of the company. He said more than 40,000 mid-level employees had completed the certification.
He noted that TCS grew from $17.5 billion in March 2017, when he took over, to $27.9 billion in March 2023. During the same period, the company's market capitalisation nearly doubled, from $74 billion to $143 billion.
It returned $27.3 billion to shareholders through dividends and share buybacks, Gopinathan said.
K Krithivasan will take over from Gopinathan as the CEO, but the latter will continue in the company supporting Krithivasan till September this year.
