Colorado Firebomb Attack: Suspect Motivated by Anti-Jewish Hatred, Planned for Over a Year
A Colorado Springs man, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, is facing federal hate crime charges after allegedly launching a firebomb attack on a pro-Israel group in Boulder, Colorado. The attack, which occurred on Sunday, targeted the group "Run For Their Lives," who gather weekly to show solidarity with Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
Soliman, who is married with five children, reportedly harbored deep-seated hatred towards Jewish people, expressing a desire to kill "all Zionist people." He confessed to investigators that he had been planning the attack for over a year, waiting until his daughter's high school graduation to execute his plan. Before leaving, he left messages for his family hidden in a desk drawer.
Disguised as a landscaper, Soliman allegedly sprayed members of the group with gasoline from a makeshift flamethrower and threw Molotov cocktails, shouting "Free Palestine!" Eight people were severely injured in the attack, which is being investigated as an act of terrorism by the FBI. Authorities discovered an additional 14 homemade incendiary devices in his possession.
Soliman, who overstayed his visitor visa by more than two years, entered the U.S. in August 2022. He had applied for asylum and a work visa, but his asylum request was still pending, and his work visa had expired. The attack underscores the severity of hate-motivated violence and the ongoing threat of terrorism.
