The Westgate softball team celebrated Senior Night with a 15-0 victory over V.B. Glencoe Charter.
The Lady Tigers got the game started slowly, adding one run in the first inning and two in the second before smashing in nine runs in the third inning. Four final runs in the fourth inning completed the mercy-rule victory.
Junior pitcher Abigail Borel once again led the team to victory with nine strikeouts. Borel allowed just three hits from Glencoe.
Second baseman K Romero led the offense with three RBIs. Kimberly Guigneaux and Braylynn Delahoussaye each stole two bases against Glencoe.
Following the win, Westgates four senior players were celebrated for their commitment to the team. Manager Courtlyn Wells was also honored, along with Spanish exchange student Jimena Dominguez.
The victory moved the Lady Tigers to an 11-13 record on the season, one of the most successful seasons in recent memory.
Westgate is currently the No. 27 team in Non-Select Division II and will face Centerville and North Vermilion before closing out the regular season on Wednesday.
