West Claims Dramatic Victory in 36th Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic

In a thrilling contest that showcased both athletic prowess and charitable spirit, the West team secured a hard-fought 28-26 comeback victory over the East in the 36th annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic. The strategic adjustment paid off as Moran delivered a precise pass, which Turner expertly secured for the game-winning touchdown with 1:27 left on the clock.

Moran, who was named the West's Most Valuable Player, had a stellar performance. He completed 9 of 11 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns to Turner. His contributions also included significant rushing yards in the first half, spearheading the team's initial scoring drive. Moran will continue his football career at Husson University.

The game itself was a back-and-forth affair, with the West ultimately outgaining the East in total yardage. The event, however, extended beyond the gridiron, raising over $300,000 for Shriners Children's medical facilities. East MVP Tatum Doucette of Messalonskee also delivered an impressive performance, rushing for 116 yards and two touchdowns, alongside 58 passing yards. Doucette highlighted the importance of the game's charitable mission, stating, "It's a great cause to play for, and I'm really happy to be a part of it."

The West now holds a commanding 24-11 advantage in the series, having won three consecutive matchups. Saturday's game marked the tenth time the Lobster Bowl has been decided by six points or fewer, underscoring the competitive nature of this annual showcase.
