Vikings sweep Bulldogs in a Special District 3 matchup between rivals

VALE On Wednesday, the Vale Vikings baseball and softball teams hosted their league rivals, the Nyssa Bulldogs, in a hard-fought matchup. In the showdown, the Vikings swept the Bulldogs with the baseball team claiming a narrow victory, 10-9, and the softball team blanking Nyssa, 20-0.
The baseball game was a down-to-the-wire match-up between the Vikings (2-6) and Bulldogs (1-8), that was settled in the final moments. The teams were locked for seven innings, until Vale claimed a one-run victory over Nyssa.
Up next for the baseball teams, Nyssa will host Ontario at 6 p.m. Friday and Vale will host the Burns Hilanders at 5 p.m. Monday.
In the softball game, the Lady Bulldogs (2-6) struggled to find a rhythm in the batters box. The Lady Vikings (7-2) stood strong in the field, holding Nyssa from scoring a single run.
Up next for the softball teams, Vale will travel to Grant Union High School in Burns to play Crane on Monday and Nyssa will host the Fruitland Grizzlies at 5 p.m. April 14.
