**Trump Pardons Reality TV Stars Julie and Todd Chrisley After Fraud Conviction**
President Donald Trump has pardoned reality TV stars Julie and Todd Chrisley, who were convicted in 2022 of bank fraud and tax evasion. The pardons, announced on Wednesday, will allow the couple, known for their show "Chrisley Knows Best," to be released from federal prison.
Todd Chrisley, 57, was serving time at a minimum-security prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, while Julie Chrisley, 52, was incarcerated in Lexington, Kentucky. The couple's lavish lifestyle, often showcased on their reality show, was funded by fraudulent bank loans and hidden income, according to prosecutors. They were accused of using the money for luxury items like cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel.
Trump, himself a former reality TV personality, announced his intention to pardon the Chrisleys on Tuesday, citing what he perceived as harsh treatment. The Chrisleys' attorney, Alex Little, stated that the pardon corrects a "deep injustice" and that the couple was targeted due to their conservative values and high profile.
Before the pardon, Julie Chrisley was scheduled for release in January 2028, and Todd Chrisley in September 2032. The Chrisleys' defense team argued that the prosecution lacked sufficient evidence and that an IRS officer gave false testimony. However, their convictions were upheld by a panel of judges last year.
