Trump Lashes Out at Critics Over Qatar Jet Deal, Sparking Outrage

President Donald Trump is facing a firestorm of criticism over a potential deal involving a luxury jet gifted by Qatar, leading him to lash out at his detractors on Truth Social. The controversy centers around a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet, which, if accepted, would be used as a temporary Air Force One.

The story, initially reported by ABC News, has ignited bipartisan outrage. Democrats have unanimously condemned the potential gift, citing ethical concerns and potential corruption. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) called it "wildly illegal," while Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) emphasized the need for Congressional consent. Senator Bernie Sanders also weighed in, labeling the deal "farcically corrupt."

Trump, however, dismissed the criticism, calling his opponents "World Class Losers" in a Truth Social post. He defended the deal, framing it as a gift to the Defense Department for a replacement Air Force One.

Qatar's media attach to the US, Ali Al-Ansari, clarified that the plane is technically being gifted from Qatar's Ministry of Defense to the Pentagon, and the matter is under review by legal departments. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitty, stated that any gift from a foreign government would be accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws.

Even some of Trump's allies have expressed rare criticism. While not necessarily focused on corruption, they raised concerns about Qatar's ties to Iran and alleged funding of groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, which are designated as terrorist organizations by the United States. Laura Loomer, a Trump advisor, expressed disappointment, while Fox News host Mark Levin also criticized Qatar's actions. The deal highlights the complex interplay of politics, ethics, and international relations.
