Travis Barker Launches New Sneaker Collaboration with Vans
Music icon Travis Barker, known for his drumming in Blink-182, has expanded his creative endeavors into the world of fashion with a new collaboration with Vans. The partnership has resulted in a custom Old Skool sneaker, a low-top canvas model that launched on Thursday, October 23rd.
The unisex shoe, priced at $85, is currently available on the Vans website and has already proven popular, with multiple sizes selling out. The design reflects both Barker's and Vans' Californian roots, drawing inspiration from skateboarding culture and Barker's punk rock background.
The sneaker features a black canvas upper with suede accents, offering breathability and durability. It incorporates several custom details that pay tribute to Barker's life on stage, including barbed wire foxing, oil-stained toe bumpers, and boombox artwork on the heels. Chrome aglets, metal eyelets, and black cotton laces add to the rocker aesthetic. The shoe also includes padded collars for comfort and Vans' signature waffle pattern soles for a non-slip finish.
The design is intended to be versatile, suitable for various occasions, and is designed to look better with wear.
BNN's Perspective: This collaboration is a smart move for both Barker and Vans. It leverages Barker's established brand and appeal within the music and pop-punk communities, while also offering a fresh take on a classic sneaker style. The design elements are well-executed, and the initial sales suggest a successful launch.
