Aiken Area Events: A Guide to May's Happenings
This week and throughout May, the Aiken area is buzzing with activities! From charity events to musical performances and educational workshops, there's something for everyone.
Monday, May 12th kicks off with the Birdies for Brain Health Charity Golf fundraiser at West Lake Country Club, supporting chronic neurological disease research. The Hopelands Concert Series begins with the Aiken Concert Band performing at Hopelands Gardens, offering free music. The Aiken Artist Guild will host an interactive origami workshop, and the Aiken County Public Library launches a Backyard Scavenger Hunt for kids. For those seeking social activities, Let's Go Bingo is held at Aiken Senior Life Services.
Tuesday, May 13th features Story Time in the Gardens at Rye Patch, and the Aiken Newcomers' Club will host a presentation by Don Boseman. Celebrity Waiter Night takes place in North Augusta, with proceeds benefiting The Children's Place. Additionally, various support groups, including Al-Anon, Nar-Anon, Celebrate Recovery, and the Depression Anxiety Bipolar Support Group, offer meetings.
Wednesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 15th offer a variety of options. The ACBL Bridge Game continues, and the Savannah River Site Museum is open. Thursday includes the CNTA Up & Atom Breakfast, a lecture on scams, and the North Augusta High and Middle school orchestras performing in the Music in The Park series. The Art of Words Poets' Open Mic event will be held at the Aiken County Public Library.
Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th offer musical performances at the Newberry Opera House and Good Girl Brewing Co. The Aiken County Farmers Market celebrates its 70th anniversary.
Sunday, May 18th and beyond features a homecoming service at the Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Aiken Civic Orchestra performing a concert.
