Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Smiles Despite Thunder's Game 3 Loss to Nuggets
Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) was all smiles despite the Thunder's tough 113-104 overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series. The loss puts the Thunder in a 2-1 deficit, but SGA's positive attitude, fueled by Nuggets fans' taunts, is a testament to his resilience.
Following the game, Gilgeous-Alexander revealed that the jeering from Nuggets fans actually brought a smile to his face. He explained that he refuses to show defeat or anger, understanding the nature of competition. "It's easy to taunt when you're up," he stated, emphasizing that the series is far from over and the Thunder have plenty to be optimistic about. He acknowledged his own performance, stating he didn't play as well as he wanted down the stretch, but is looking forward to the opportunity to improve in the upcoming games.
The Nuggets, led by Jamal Murray's 27 points, capitalized on an 11-2 run in overtime to secure the victory. While Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets' star, had a relatively quiet offensive performance with 20 points on 8-of-25 shooting, the supporting cast stepped up. Aaron Gordon contributed 22 points, and Michael Porter Jr. added 21 points and eight rebounds.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. The Thunder will look to even the series in Game 4, which will be played in Denver on Sunday.
