Three Teams Advance to Section 2 Boys Basketball Championships

GLENS FALLS, NY – The Section 2 boys basketball playoffs continued Thursday night, culminating in three teams securing their spots in the upcoming championship games. The victories set the stage for exciting matchups across two different classifications.

In Class A, the Lansingburgh Knights, seeded third, delivered a decisive 56-34 win against the defending state champions, Glens Falls. Josiah Acevado of Lansingburgh led all scorers with 17 points, propelling his team to the championship game. Later in the evening, top-seeded Hudson followed suit, defeating the fourth-seeded Averill Park with a final score of 62-49. The Bluehawks' strong second-half performance proved crucial, with Keith Robinson leading the scoring with an impressive 30 points.

The Class AA semifinal saw a close contest between the top-seeded Amsterdam Rams and the fifth-seeded Troy Flying Horses. Amsterdam emerged victorious in a thrilling 67-62 battle. Despite Troy's late efforts to narrow the gap, a crucial defensive stop by the Rams sealed their win.

The Class A championship game will feature Hudson and Lansingburgh, scheduled for Saturday at 12:45 p.m. The Class AA championship game will see Amsterdam face the winner of the Niskayuna and Columbia game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
