ThermoWorks Enters Scale Market with New Kitchen Device

ThermoWorks, a company known for its food thermometers, is expanding its product line with the introduction of the Gravitas scale. This marks the company's first foray into the kitchen scale market, leveraging its reputation for precision and accuracy. The Gravitas is designed for precise measurements in the kitchen, backed by ThermoWorks' rigorous testing and certified calibration.

A key feature of the Gravitas is its detachable, wireless display. This allows users to place the display in a convenient location, even when using large bowls that might obstruct the view of a traditional scale. The backlit display features large digits, 180-degree auto-rotation, and integrated magnets for flexible placement options. Wireless connectivity is provided via a 2.4GHz RF connection, eliminating the need for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi pairing.

The scale also boasts a 20-minute memory function. It enters standby mode after five minutes of inactivity, but retains the last measurement for up to 15 minutes. Battery life is also a highlight, with the base unit lasting 300 hours on four AA batteries and the display running for up to 350 hours on two AAs. The entire setup is IP66 rated, and the measuring plate is removable and hand-washable.

In terms of performance, the Gravitas can measure to the tenth of a gram and the thousandth of an ounce. ThermoWorks guarantees accuracy to within 0.7 grams, supported by NIST-traceable certified calibration. The scale can handle loads up to 11 pounds (5kg). The Gravitas is currently available for pre-order in a variety of colors, priced at $119.
