HBO's Harry Potter Series Casts Its Trio: Meet the New Harry, Hermione, and Ron!
Get ready, Potterheads! HBO's highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series has finally revealed its core cast. The roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron have been filled with fresh faces, ready to bring the beloved characters to life on the small screen.
Dominic McLaughlin will take on the role of Harry Potter, bringing experience from the BBC series "Gifted." Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione Granger, having previously starred as Matilda in the West End production of "Matilda the Musical." Finally, Alastair Stout will embody Ron Weasley, with a background that includes a potato commercial.
The series, which will also stream on HBO Max, is slated to begin filming in mid-2025. The production plans to adapt the books, potentially taking one season per book. This could mean a new season annually, though the article suggests the later books might be split into multiple seasons.
The trio will be joined by a stellar supporting cast, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall. While the main trio is cast, many other roles remain open, including Draco Malfoy and the Weasley siblings. The series is expected to premiere in 2026.
