Netflix Sets Sail with Second Season Trailer for Live-Action *One Piece*

The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's *One Piece* is returning for a second season, and the trailer promises more swashbuckling adventures. Following the unexpected success of the first season, Netflix has unveiled a trailer showcasing what's to come, including a glimpse at new characters and storylines.

The trailer, revealed during a special event, features the core Straw Hat crew: Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, all sporting fresh looks inspired by the manga. The focus of the trailer, however, is on the introduction of new characters. Viewers can expect to see bounty hunter Smoker, along with Baroque Works agents Ms. Wednesday and All Sunday.

The second season will adapt several manga arcs, including Loguetown and Drum Island. These arcs will introduce new allies, enemies, and potential crew members, such as the doctor Tony Tony Chopper.

In a further commitment to the series, Netflix has also confirmed a third season. Production for the third season is scheduled to begin in Cape Town in 2025. The show will also see a change in leadership, with Ian Stokes taking over as co-showrunner for the upcoming season, following Matt Owens' departure earlier this year. The second season is slated to premiere sometime in 2026.

BNN's Perspective: The success of the first season of *One Piece* demonstrates the potential for successful live-action adaptations of beloved manga. While the long wait between seasons can be frustrating for fans, the commitment to multiple seasons suggests Netflix is invested in delivering a faithful and engaging experience. The introduction of new characters and storylines promises to keep audiences hooked.
