Ubisoft Rolls Out Offline Mode for The Crew 2

Ubisoft has launched a new offline mode, dubbed "Hybrid Mode," for its racing MMO, *The Crew 2*. This feature allows players to enjoy the game without an internet connection, offering a new way to experience the title.

The Hybrid Mode provides players with the flexibility to choose between the original online mode, which includes multiplayer features, leaderboards, and community sharing, and the new offline mode. This offline mode allows players to preserve their progression and enjoy the game without needing an active internet connection.

To transfer progress to offline mode, players can export their online save after an online session. This creates a local copy of their current progression. However, it's important to note that online and offline saves are separate, meaning progress made offline will not be reflected in online saves. Players can update their offline files by re-exporting their online saves at any time. Custom liveries will not transfer to offline saves.

The introduction of this offline mode comes after the shutdown of the original *The Crew* in March 2024. This shutdown, which rendered the game inaccessible to players even in solo mode, raised concerns among players about the future of *The Crew 2*. Ubisoft responded to these concerns by announcing the development of an offline mode to ensure long-term access to *The Crew 2* and *The Crew Motorfest*. The publisher was subsequently sued following the shutdown of the original game.
