The Basketball Tournament 2025: Quarterfinal Showdown Looms
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is heating up as the quarterfinal round approaches this weekend. Eight teams remain in the competition, vying for a spot in the semifinals on July 31st. The teams still in contention are AfterShocks, Best Virginia, Shell Shock, Eberlein Drive, Sideline Cancer, Fail Harder, We Are D3, and Heartfire.
Fail Harder, led by point guard Darius Adams, who averages 21.3 points per game, advanced after defeating the reigning TBT champion, Carmen's Crew. We Are D3, averaging 77.3 points per game, is led by guard Ty Nichols, who is putting up 24.7 points per contest. AfterShocks, with Nick Sibande leading the team in scoring with 16 points per game, narrowly defeated Forever Coogs in the previous round.
Heartfire secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a close victory, with Marcus Hall scoring a game-high 16 points. Best Virginia, led by James Reece V, who is putting up 21.7 points per game, also advanced. Shell Shock, featuring former Terrapin stars, is still in the running. Eberlein Drive, led by Gabe York and Anthony Clemmons, who hit the game-winning shot, pulled off an upset against top-seeded La Familia. Sideline Cancer, paced by Jermaine Marrow, also secured a spot in the quarterfinals.
Two games will be played on Sunday, with the remaining two taking place on Monday.
