Taylor Swift Subpoenaed in Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni Lawsuit: What You Need to Know
Pop superstar Taylor Swift has been drawn into the legal battle surrounding the upcoming film "It Ends With Us," starring and directed by Justin Baldoni. While Swift's song "My Tears Ricochet" is featured in the trailer and a scene, her involvement in the movie is reportedly limited to licensing the track.
According to reports from TMZ and other outlets, Swift was subpoenaed by Baldoni's legal team in his countersuit against his co-star, Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Lively's publicist. The lawsuit stems from Lively's accusations that Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign against her after she reported on-set sexual harassment. Baldoni denies these claims, alleging they've damaged his career and reputation.
Swift's spokesperson has vehemently denied any deeper involvement in the film. They stated that Swift never visited the set, participated in creative decisions, scored the film, or even saw the movie until weeks after its release. The spokesperson further accused Baldoni's team of using Swift's name to generate public interest, calling the subpoena "tabloid clickbait."
The legal documents published online alluded to a "famous, and famously close, friend of Reynolds and Lively," which sparked speculation about Swift's involvement. Lively and Swift are known to be close friends, having collaborated professionally and made numerous public appearances together. Baldoni's team alleges that Reynolds and the unnamed "megacelebrity friend" pressured him to accept script changes made by Lively. Text messages allegedly sent by Lively to Baldoni, referencing herself as "Khaleesi" from "Game of Thrones" and Swift and Reynolds as her "dragons," have also surfaced.
This legal drama continues to unfold, with Swift's involvement, though seemingly minimal, adding another layer of intrigue to the already high-profile case.
