Frost Edges Goldeneyes in Overtime Thriller

EDMONTON, Alberta – The Minnesota Frost secured a hard-fought 2-1 overtime victory against the Vancouver Goldeneyes on Saturday, as the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Takeover Tour made its stop in Edmonton. The game, held at Rogers Place, saw Taylor Heise net the game-winning goal just under three minutes into the extra period, her first goal of the season.

The Frost opened the scoring early in the first period with a goal from Abby Hustler, capitalizing on a power play opportunity. The Goldeneyes quickly responded, with Izzy Daniel evening the score shortly after. Both teams battled fiercely, leading to a scoreless second and most of the third period. The Goldeneyes had a prime opportunity with a power play late in the third, but failed to capitalize.

Minnesota goaltender Maddie Rooney was solid in net, making 27 saves, while Emerance Maschmeyer of Vancouver stopped 33 shots. The game was the third of 16 neutral-site games on the PWHL Takeover Tour this season, and the second tour stop in Edmonton. The Frost will travel to Toronto on Tuesday, while the Goldeneyes head to New York on Wednesday.

BNN's Perspective: The PWHL Takeover Tour continues to be a positive initiative, bringing professional women's hockey to new audiences. While the game itself was exciting, the league should continue to focus on improving the quality of play and fan experience to ensure the long-term success of the league.
