Switch 2 Owners Rejoice! New Update Brings Easy Screenshot and Video Sharing
Nintendo Switch 2 owners are in for a treat! A new update for the Nintendo Switch mobile app is rolling out, bringing a highly anticipated feature: the ability to upload and automatically upload screenshots and videos captured on the console. This long-awaited functionality will finally allow players to easily share their gaming moments with friends and on social media.
Discovered by dataminer OatmealDome, the update includes a dedicated screen within the app explaining the new upload feature. Switch 2 users will be able to select any captured screenshots or video clips and upload them directly to the mobile app. From there, they can save these captures to their phone's camera roll for sharing on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.
Even better, the app also hints at an auto-upload feature. This means that any new screenshots or videos taken on the Switch 2 will automatically be sent to the mobile app, eliminating the need for manual uploads.
The app details some limitations. Users can upload a maximum of 100 screenshots and videos, which will be stored for up to 30 days. If the user doesn't save them to their device within that timeframe, they will presumably be deleted. If a user attempts to upload more than 100 files, the oldest ones will be overwritten.
This update brings the Switch 2 in line with features already available on competing consoles like the PlayStation 5 (which has auto-upload since 2022) and Xbox. The original Nintendo Switch currently requires a cumbersome process involving QR codes to transfer screenshots. This new feature will be a welcome improvement for Switch 2 owners, especially given the recent removal of direct Twitter integration from all major consoles.
