Glen Rogers, Suspected Serial Killer, Executed in Florida

Glen Rogers, a man convicted of a 1995 murder in Florida and suspected of being a serial killer, was executed by lethal injection on Thursday. The execution took place at the Florida State Prison near Starke. Rogers, 62, was found guilty in 1997 of murdering Tina Marie Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two, whom he met at a bar in Hillsborough County.

Following the murder, Rogers stole Cribbs' car and fled Florida. He was apprehended in Kentucky after a car chase. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed Rogers' death warrant on Tuesday after a lengthy legal battle spanning two decades. Rogers had filed numerous appeals, including a claim of childhood sexual abuse, all of which were ultimately rejected by the Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Rogers was also convicted of murder in California for the strangulation death of Sandra Gallagher, a mother of three. He met Gallagher in a California bar shortly before Cribbs' murder. Authorities linked Rogers to several other murders, and he once claimed to have killed approximately 70 people, though he later retracted the statement. His suspected victims were primarily women in their 30s, often with red hair and a petite build. Media outlets frequently dubbed him the "Casanova killer."

This execution marks the fifth in Florida in 2025.

BNN's Perspective:

While the justice system has run its course in this case, the sheer number of alleged victims and the details of Rogers' crimes are chilling. The lengthy appeals process highlights the complexities of capital punishment, and the need for thorough investigation and due process. The focus on the victims and the impact of their loss should remain paramount.
