Supergirl Movie Cast Unveiled: A New Era for the Girl of Steel
The upcoming DC Universe (DCU) movie, *Supergirl*, slated for release on June 26, 2026, is generating significant buzz as details about its cast and characters emerge. The film, inspired by the comic book series *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, will mark Supergirl's first big-screen appearance in over four decades.
Milly Alcock will star as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. Alcock has already made her DCU debut with a cameo in *Superman*. Supergirl, cousin to Superman, is portrayed as more cynical and world-weary due to the destruction of Krypton. She possesses the same powers as Superman, including superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to fly.
Eve Ridley will play Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young warrior seeking revenge. Matthias Schoenaerts is cast as Krem of the Yellow Hills, the film's primary villain, a space pirate responsible for Ruthye's father's death. Jason Momoa will portray Lobo, a motorcycle-riding mercenary with superhuman abilities, marking his second DCU role after playing Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.
David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham will portray Kara's parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, respectively. The film will also feature Krypto the Superdog, a fully CGI character based on director James Gunn's own dog, Ouzo.
BNN's Perspective: The casting choices, particularly the inclusion of Alcock and Momoa, signal a fresh and potentially exciting direction for the DCU. The film's inspiration from *Woman of Tomorrow* suggests a more complex and character-driven narrative, which could resonate well with audiences.
