Springsteen Biopic to Open AFI Fest

The American Film Institute (AFI) has announced that the upcoming AFI Fest will open with the premiere of "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere," a biopic centered on Bruce Springsteen. The film, starring Jeremy Allen White, will screen on October 22nd, marking the festival's opening night.

The film, written and directed by Scott Cooper, focuses on Springsteen's creative process during the making of his iconic album, *Nebraska*. The cast includes Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, and Odessa Young. The film also features Gaby Hoffmann, Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, Johnny Cannizzaro, Harrison Gilbertson, and Chris Jaymes.

This isn't the first festival appearance for "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere." It will also be featured at the New York Film Festival in September, where a screening will be attended by White, Cooper, Strong, and Young, alongside Springsteen himself.

The film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on October 24th, just two days after its AFI Fest screening. The 39th AFI Fest will run from October 22nd to 26th. The full festival lineup will be unveiled on September 30th, with individual tickets going on sale October 6th. AFI Fest passes are currently available.

BNN's Perspective:

The selection of a Springsteen biopic to open AFI Fest is a fitting choice, given the artist's enduring cultural impact. The film's focus on the creation of *Nebraska* promises a compelling look into Springsteen's artistic process. While the film's early festival screenings and upcoming theatrical release suggest a strong reception, it remains to be seen how the film will be received by critics and audiences.
