Shonda Rhimes to Receive Inaugural Edinburgh TV Festival Fellowship

The Edinburgh TV Festival has announced that Shonda Rhimes will be the inaugural recipient of the Edinburgh Fellowship. The award, presented by Screen Scotland, is being launched to coincide with the festival's 50th anniversary in 2025. The Fellowship recognizes individuals whose work has significantly impacted the television industry and its cultural influence.

Rhimes, a multi-award-winning writer, producer, author, and creator of numerous hit television shows, including *Grey's Anatomy*, *Scandal*, and *Bridgerton*, will be honored for her groundbreaking contributions to the industry. She will also participate in an "In Conversation" event at the festival, where she will discuss her 30-year career and the future of the television industry, particularly in light of current cultural, economic, and creative shifts.

Rhimes is the CEO of Shondaland, a media company celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. She is also the first woman to create three television dramas that have reached the 100-episode milestone. In 2017, Rhimes transitioned from network television to exclusively produce content for Netflix.

The festival's creative director, Rowan Woods, praised Rhimes as a "respected creative powerhouse" whose global cultural impact is undeniable. The Fellowship aims to celebrate the past 50 years of the festival while looking towards the future of television.
