"Killers of the Flower Moon" Actor Samuel French Dies at 45 After Cancer Battle
Actor Samuel French, known for his supporting role in Martin Scorsese's acclaimed film "Killers of the Flower Moon," has tragically passed away at the age of 45. French died last Friday in Waco, Texas, after battling cancer that spread throughout his body.
French's final film, "Towpath," directed by Paul Sinacore, was the first to announce the news. Sinacore remembered French as a "dear friend" and an "incredible actor," highlighting his "raw, brave, and vibrant" passion for acting. French's dedication to his craft was evident in his work, and he was lauded for his intensity.
In "Killers of the Flower Moon," French played undercover FBI agent CJ Robinson, sharing a memorable scene with Robert De Niro. Scorsese himself reportedly praised French's performance.
Beyond "Killers of the Flower Moon," French had a diverse acting career. He appeared in the 2023 thriller "Joe Haladin: The Case of the Missing Sister," the History Channel's miniseries "Texas Rising," and a 2020 episode of FX's "Fear the Walking Dead." He was also set to appear as Satan in the upcoming horror film "The Ladybug Files" and had already received praise for his role in "Monsters Within."
French had announced his retirement from acting in August 2024, citing the industry's impact on his well-being. He leaves behind his wife, Melinda, and their 12-year-old daughter, Madison Ruby French, as well as his parents and brothers.
