Boston's vibrant indie rock scene of the 1980s was home to many influential bands, but one group, Salem 66, has remained largely forgotten – until now. Formed in 1981, the all-female band, featuring Judy Grunwald on guitar and Beth Kaplan on bass, quickly gained traction, signing with Homestead Records and sharing stages with iconic acts like R.E.M. and Dinosaur Jr. Their unique sound, characterized by Grunwald's sharp guitar work and Kaplan's distinctive basslines, set them apart.
