RiverDogs Fall in Extra-Inning Thriller Against Pelicans

Myrtle Beach defeated the Charleston RiverDogs in a high-scoring, extra-inning contest. The game, marked by numerous lead changes, concluded with the Pelicans securing a walk-off victory.

Charleston initially built a 9-7 lead in the eighth inning, but Myrtle Beach quickly responded, tying the score in the bottom of the ninth. The game then went into extra innings.

In the tenth inning, Charleston regained the lead, only for Myrtle Beach to answer again, tying the game. The RiverDogs managed to score two runs in the eleventh, extending their lead to 12-10. However, the Pelicans mounted a comeback. After a sacrifice fly, Myrtle Beach tied the game with an RBI single. A walk loaded the bases, and a wild pitch allowed the winning run to score, giving the Pelicans the victory.

The game was a hitting showcase, with a combined 33 hits. The contest also saw 18 walks.

The RiverDogs will return home to Riley Park on August 26 to begin their final homestand against the Augusta GreenJackets.

BNN's Perspective: This game was a rollercoaster of emotions for fans of both teams. While the RiverDogs will be disappointed with the loss, the high-scoring nature of the game and the back-and-forth action provided an exciting spectacle. The team will need to regroup and focus on finishing the season strong.
