Minor League Baseball Season Heats Up with Promotions and Standout Performances

As the 2025 Minor League Baseball season enters its final full month, Week 21 saw a flurry of activity, including promotions and impressive performances from top prospects. Several 2024 first-round draft picks are making waves as they climb the ranks.

Infielder JJ Wetherholt, a 2024 first-round pick, has been a standout performer since his promotion to Triple-A. Over the past week, he batted .364 with three home runs, bringing his Triple-A home run total to nine. His overall season stats include a .303 batting average, a .419 on-base percentage, and a .529 slugging percentage, with a total of 16 home runs.

Another 2024 first-round pick, Konnor Griffin, earned a promotion to Double-A. Before the move, Griffin was hitting .328 with three home runs and 13 stolen bases in High-A. He has a total of 59 stolen bases this season.

Other notable promotions include Felnin Celesten, who moved from Single-A to High-A. Additionally, the Orioles released infielder Anthony Servideo.

The week also saw several 2025 MLB Draft picks move up to full-season ball. These include Andrew Fischer, Cam Cannarella, Ethan Petry, Caden Bodine, Wehiwa Aloy, Ike Irish, RJ Austin, Paxton Kling, Brendan Summerhill, James Quinn-Irons, Ethan Holliday, Max Belyeu, Tanner Thach, and Mason White. Ethan Holliday made his debut with Single-A, hitting .375.

Several other players had impressive weeks. Tim Elko hit nine hits and five home runs. Zack Gelof hit seven home runs and 11 RBI. Jonah Tong recorded nine strikeouts without allowing a run. Ralphy Velazquez had 12 hits and four home runs. Termarr Johnson had a .647 average. Jonathan Santucci had 11 strikeouts. Thomas White had nine strikeouts and one earned run. Blake Burke had a .545 average and two home runs. David McCabe had four home runs and 15 RBI. Ryan Waldschmidt had 11 hits, five home runs, and 11 RBI. Will Watson had 13 strikeouts. Jesus Made had 11 hits.
