Northeast Ohio Braces for a Soggy Week: Rain and Cool Temperatures Ahead
Cleveland and Northeast Ohio residents, get ready to break out the umbrellas and jackets! A persistent low-pressure system is bringing a week of rain and cooler-than-average temperatures, according to the latest forecast. Expect periods of rain to dominate the weather pattern through early Saturday.
The rain is expected to arrive late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, following a dry Tuesday. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler, with highs in the low to mid-60s and lows in the mid-50s. Wednesday will bring showers and a chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures climbing into the 60s near Lake Erie and the low 70s further south.
The system will linger through Wednesday night and Thursday, causing temperatures to dip further. Highs on Thursday and Friday will only reach the mid-50s, significantly below the normal high of around 73 degrees for this time of year. Scattered rain will continue throughout Thursday and Friday, potentially lingering into Saturday morning.
The region could see between one to two inches of rain between Tuesday and Friday mornings. Cleveland is expected to receive about an inch, while areas like Mentor, Chardon, and Akron could see 1.3 inches. Areas further east may experience up to 1.7 inches.
The good news? The weather is expected to improve just in time for Memorial Day weekend! Showers should clear by Saturday, giving way to sunny skies through Monday. Temperatures will gradually rise, reaching the upper 50s and low 60s on Saturday, the mid-60s on Sunday, and the upper 60s on Memorial Day. There's a slight chance of showers on Memorial Day, primarily in the afternoon.
BNN's Perspective: While the extended period of rain is certainly unwelcome, the forecast for a sunny Memorial Day weekend offers a welcome reprieve. It's a reminder that even in unpredictable weather patterns, brighter days are often just around the corner.
