PFF takes the under on Panthers projected win total for 2023

Can Bryce Young lead the Carolina Panthers to the promised land?!?!
Okay, maybe thats a bit much to ask for from Pick No. 1 in Year No. 1. So, lets just start off with guessing if he can lead them past their expected win total for the season.
Thats precisely what Pro Football Focus betting contributor Mason Cameron did this past week. Cameron took the over and/or unders on the projected win tallies of the teams that are set to be led by rookie quarterbacks.
And he believes the Panthers, who are currently down at 7.5, wont exceed their mark.
Unlike Atlanta, the Panthers have to slug through an actual second-place schedule, which features tough matchups with the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions. To make matters worse, they will be on the road in four of their first six games, including matchups with the division-rival Falcons, as well as the Seahawks, Lions and Dolphins two of which were playoff teams last season. If Carolina reaches this wins threshold, it would mean going through some of the top teams in the NFC, and they Panthers just arent cut out for that yet.
Young and his cats dont have the toughest overall run out there. Their strength of schedule, perhaps eased by last years dreadful NFC South, has them looking at one of the easiest upcoming slates.
But, as Cameron notes, they have a handful of formidable opponents ahead in Miami, Dallas, Seattle and Detroitall of whom may very well take a step forward in 2023. Plus, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers arent too shabby either.
Well just have to wait and see if this team really is or isnt cut out for it.
