Paramount Pushes Back Kendrick Lamar Comedy Release

Paramount Pictures has announced a delay for the upcoming untitled comedy film starring Kendrick Lamar and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of *South Park*. The film, which was initially slated for release on July 4th of this year and then moved to March 20, 2026, has been pushed back further.

A joint statement from Parker and Stone's production company, Park County, and Lamar's company, pgLang, confirmed the delay, citing ongoing efforts to complete the film. The statement emphasized the team's commitment to finishing the project.

The delay comes as Lamar has been engaged in a global tour since April, scheduled to conclude next month. Simultaneously, Parker and Stone have been occupied with the production of a new season of *South Park*. The script for the film was written by Vernon Chatman. While plot details remain undisclosed by Paramount, the studio has previously described the project as an original live-action comedy.

The film is being produced by Lamar and Dave Free through pgLang, and by Stone and Parker through Park County. This project marks Parker and Stone's first feature film in over two decades, their last being 2004's *Team America: World Police*. Lamar, a highly acclaimed artist, has won 22 Grammy Awards and has experience in film, including his appearance in the documentary *Piece by Piece* and his work on the soundtrack for Marvel's *Black Panther*.

BNN's Perspective:

The delay of this high-profile project is understandable given the busy schedules of the key players involved. While fans may be disappointed by the wait, the commitment to delivering a quality product is encouraging. Hopefully, the extra time will allow the creative team to fully realize their vision and deliver a film that lives up to the expectations generated by the talent involved.
