Oregon Man Sentenced to Life for Murder of Girlfriend

Oregon City, OR – A 56-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years for the murder of his girlfriend. William G. Blake pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Clackamas County Circuit Court this week. The victim, 38-year-old Jennifer Stuart, was shot at Blake's home on August 14th.

Evidence presented in court revealed Blake's actions following the shooting. Surveillance footage showed him purchasing a plastic storage box, garbage bags, and gloves. Prosecutors stated that his vehicle was later observed near the location where Stuart's body was eventually discovered. Blake later retrieved the storage container from the woods, reportedly fearing it contained evidence that could implicate him.

Stuart's body was found by hunters in September. The medical examiner determined she had been shot once. Blake confessed to the killing after his arrest in October.

During the sentencing hearing, Stuart's mother, Elizabeth Stuart, addressed the court, expressing her grief and condemnation of Blake's actions. The presiding judge was Michael Wetzel.

BNN's Perspective: This case highlights the devastating impact of domestic violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable. While the plea deal allowed for the dismissal of other charges, the life sentence reflects the gravity of the crime. The details of the case are disturbing, and the family's pain is palpable. It underscores the need for continued efforts to prevent domestic violence and support victims.
