Oilers' Goaltender Jarry Leaves Game with Injury

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Tristan Jarry was forced to leave Thursday night's game against the Boston Bruins due to a lower-body injury. The injury occurred while Jarry was attempting a save. Backup goaltender Calvin Pickard stepped in to finish the game, securing the win for Edmonton. Emergency backup goaltender Jason San Antonio was on the bench.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch provided no immediate details on the severity of Jarry's injury, stating that the team was still assessing the situation. San Antonio's last season of organized hockey was in 2013-14 with Bryant University's ACHA Division-II team.

Pickard played for 24 minutes, making 12 saves on 12 shots. His performance helped the Oilers maintain their lead. Prior to the game, Pickard had a 3-4-2 record with an .851 save percentage, the lowest among goaltenders with at least 10 starts this season. If Jarry is sidelined for an extended period, Pickard could see increased playing time.

Jarry joined the Oilers less than a week ago in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In exchange, the Oilers sent Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak, and a second-round pick to the Penguins. Jarry had won his first two games with Edmonton, but allowed seven goals on 58 shots (.880 Sv%). Before the trade, the 30-year-old had nine wins and a .909 save percentage in 14 games with the Penguins.

BNN's Perspective: The Oilers' recent trade for Jarry was intended to bolster their goaltending. While Pickard's performance offers some reassurance, the team will be hoping Jarry's injury isn't serious. The success of the Oilers this season may hinge on the health and performance of their goaltending tandem.
