Virginia "Ginny" Webb, a beloved matriarch and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at the age of 90. Her life was a testament to unwavering love, dedicated service, and profound faith. Born in 1935, Ginny was one of nine children and grew up with a passion for reading. She graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1953, the same year she married Kenneth Webb, the love of her life.
The couple established their home and raised their six children in Winthrop, Maine. While Ginny held various jobs throughout her life, including at Mayfair Lace, Simpsons Egg Farm, Chicks Orchard, and Nicholson Nursing Home, her most cherished role was that of a devoted caregiver to her family. She cultivated a welcoming home environment where abundance of love and hospitality were constants. Her talents as a homemaker were evident in her enjoyment of sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, and family camping adventures. Ginny found immense satisfaction in sharing her creations, whether it was a handmade quilt, fresh produce from her garden, or a comforting home-cooked meal.
Her Christian faith was the guiding principle of her existence. A dedicated member of the Winthrop Congregational Church, Ginny actively contributed to her church community. She lent her voice to the choir and Coda Chorus, was known for her delicious biscuits served at fish chowder lunches, and greeted fellow parishioners with a warm smile. Even in her later years, she remained connected to her church family by listening to newsletters.
Above all, Ginny's greatest joy was her family. Affectionately known as "Grammer" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she treasured every moment spent with them, nurturing their lives with food, encouragement, and the simple beauty of shared experiences. Following Kenneth's passing in 2004, Ginny continued to embrace life, enjoying quilting, country western concerts, church activities, and time with loved ones. Her response when asked about her cooking, "I loved seeing peoples faces when they saw my biscuits coming towards them," perfectly encapsulates her life's purpose: to bring joy and comfort to others.
Ginny was predeceased by her parents, her husband Kenneth, her daughter Pamela Jean, and her son Gerry Allen. She is survived by her children Thomas, Edward, Karen and her partner Garry Cromwell, and Daniel, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In accordance with Ginny's wishes, there will be no formal services. Her family encourages those wishing to honor her memory to share a meal with loved ones, bake for a friend, appreciate nature's beauty, and cherish family moments. Donations in her memory can be made to the Winthrop Congregational Church.
