Marilyn Eva Bickford, 86, Passes Away

Belgrade, Maine – Marilyn Eva Bickford, a long-time resident of Belgrade, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Woodlands Senior Living Center in Waterville. She was 86 years old.

Born in Belgrade on October 21, 1938, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Claribel J. (Knowles) Cummings. She graduated from Belgrade Central High School in 1956.

Throughout her life, Marilyn dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker. She found joy in sewing, crafting clothes for her loved ones, tending to her gardens, crocheting, and reading her Bible.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bickford; a son, Everett Guido Bickford; a daughter, Selena Johnson; a brother, Dwight Cummings; and a sister, Elaine Lavertu. She is survived by her daughters, Naomi Dorr of Thomaston and Phoebe Dipietro of Waterville. She also leaves behind four stepchildren, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Sylvia Clark of Winslow, along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. Arrangements are being handled by Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home. The family encourages those wishing to share condolences, memories, and photos to visit the funeral home's website. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a charity of one's choice in Marilyn's memory.
