Edward Rockwood Gerrier, 84, Passes Away

Augusta, Maine – Edward Rockwood Gerrier, a veteran and long-time resident, has passed away at the age of 84. Mr. Gerrier died on October 24, 2025, at Mid Coast Hospital.

Born on November 4, 1940, Mr. Gerrier was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1958. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1962.

In 1965, Mr. Gerrier married Nancy Cote. The couple later settled in Sidney, where they raised their family.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gerrier worked at the Kennebec Journal before spending many years at Westinghouse Electric, later known as Eastern Electric. He ultimately retired from Cooper Weymouth Peterson in 2002.

During his retirement, Mr. Gerrier and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He pursued various hobbies, including fishing, camping, traveling, kayaking, and hiking.

Mr. Gerrier was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Gerrier. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Gerrier; his sons Edward Gerrier Jr., Clifford Gerrier, and Barry Gerrier; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A committal service will be held on Friday, November 7, at 9 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to MaineGeneral Health, with a memo to the Cancer Center in memory of Edward Gerrier.
