Firefighter Charles F. Theobald Jr. Remembered
Winslow, Maine – The community mourns the loss of Charles F. Theobald Jr., a dedicated firefighter who passed away. Born on December 1, 1953, Theobald Jr. dedicated his life to serving others, beginning his firefighting career at the age of 17 with the West Islip Fire Department in New York.
After relocating, Theobald Jr. joined the Winslow Fire Department, eventually retiring as interim Fire Chief. His commitment to service extended beyond firefighting; he was also a proud Eagle Scout, often sharing stories of his adventures.
In 2007, he met Wanda, and they married in May 2008. Their bond was evident to all who knew them. Together, they shared a blended family, raising four sons and enjoying the company of thirteen grandchildren. Theobald Jr. is also survived by his beloved dog, Lady.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, and dog Lady, four sons, thirteen grandchildren, and three sisters. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends. The family expressed gratitude to Beacon Hospice employees Katie Richard and Judy Casella for their kindness. The family also thanked the Winslow and other area fire and police departments for their support.
Services will be held on March 21, 2026, at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Vassalboro.
