Winslow Resident Arthur Joe Simpson Passes Away at 88

Winslow, Maine – Arthur Joe Simpson, a long-time resident of Winslow, has died at the age of 88. Mr. Simpson passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

Born in Waterville on November 17, 1937, Mr. Simpson was the son of Arthur H. Simpson and Evelyn (Reynolds) Simpson. He dedicated 26 years of his career to Fort Halifax Packing Company, where he served as a processing plant manager.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Simpson enjoyed a variety of activities. He was an avid outdoorsman, frequently embarking on hunting and fishing trips with family and friends at their camp on Sebec Lake. He also enjoyed playing cards, participating in bowling leagues, and following the New York Yankees. In his later years, he found enjoyment in visiting casinos. Mr. Simpson was known for his willingness to help others, often lending a hand with small projects at his children's homes.

Mr. Simpson was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Eva Rabideau. He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Holt) Simpson, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. He is also survived by his two children, Russell Simpson and Tammy Olauson, along with their spouses. Additionally, he leaves behind three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public visiting hours. A private family gathering will be held at Howard Cemetery in Winslow to celebrate his life.
