Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 confirms Carl Pei
In March, Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced that the Nothing Phone (2) would be launched later this year. He also hinted that the upcoming smartphone will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chipset and focus more on software experience. Soon, the rumour mill speculated that the Nothing Phone (2) would be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. In a recent tweet, Carl Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will indeed be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Compared to the Nothing Phone (1) which features the Snapdragon 778G, apps on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 open almost twice as faster. The former OnePlus co-founder said that apart from performance gains, the new chipset brings huge improvements to the battery life, network connectivity and camera. Since the Image Signal Processor on the chipset can capture more than 4,000 times the data captured by Nothing Phone (1), it will offer advanced features like Raw HDR and 4K video recording at 30fps. At the Mobile World Congress 2023, Carl Pei also confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will support satellite connectivity. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 packs the X65 modem, which does not feature satellite connectivity, hinting that the upcoming phone might sport a modified version of the chipset.
