SteepleCats Suffer Weekend Losses

The North Adams SteepleCats experienced a tough weekend, dropping games both Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday, the SteepleCats fell to the Sanford team with a final score of 6-4 after ten innings. The SteepleCats rallied in the ninth inning to tie the game, but Sanford ultimately prevailed in extra innings.

Saturday night saw the SteepleCats lose a close contest against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, with a final score of 6-5. The Sharks mounted a comeback in the ninth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run, to overcome a three-run deficit. Despite a strong pitching performance by Ashton Chronister, who delivered five innings, the SteepleCats were unable to hold onto their lead. The team had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but a fly ball ended the threat.

The SteepleCats' manager, Mike Gladu, acknowledged the challenges of the late innings and emphasized the need for the team to compete and control what they can. The team is currently in the midst of Family Weekend, with many players' families in attendance. The SteepleCats will conclude their four-game homestand Sunday afternoon against Upper Valley.

BNN's Perspective: The SteepleCats' recent losses highlight the competitive nature of baseball. While the team has shown flashes of strong play, they need to focus on consistency and execution, especially in the crucial late innings.
