Nokia 105 2023 & Nokia 106 4G launched with built-in UPI for easier payments

Released back in 2016, UPI is now almost synonymous with payments in urban regions. However, since using it requires the installation of apps, its benefits cannot be reaped without smartphones. Nokia is aiming to bridge this digital divide with its latest feature phones and enable financial access for all. The newly announced Nokia 105 2023 and Nokia 106 are feature phones that come with UPI built-in. Making this possible is UPI 123PAY, NPCIs instant payment system for feature phones that allows users to make purchases in a safe and secure manner. UPI 123PAY facilitates transactions based on four technology alternatives, namely, calling an IVR (interactive voice response) number, app functionality in feature phones, missed call-based approach, and proximity sound-based payments. Coming to the phones themselvesboth handsets are claimed to feature incredible battery life and the reassurance and reliability expected from a Nokia phone. Nokia says that the Nokia 106 4G has been toughened up with rigorous durability testing to withstand rough usage. The displays use IPS LCD technology, which is superior to other forms of LCD such as PLS and TFT, with better viewing angles and colour reproduction. Meanwhile, the Nokia 105 is equipped with a 1,000mAh battery, which is 25% larger than its predecessor. The pricier Nokia 106 4G gets a larger pack, rated 1,450mAh.
