Noah Hawley to Remake Horror Film "Terrified" for Warner Bros.

Emmy-winning creator Noah Hawley, known for his work on "Fargo" and "Alien: Earth," is set to direct a remake of the Argentine supernatural horror film "Terrified" for Warner Bros. Hawley will also produce the feature. The original Spanish-language film, titled "Aterrados," was written and directed by Demian Rugna, who will be involved in the development of the remake.

The 2017 film centers on a police officer and a group of paranormal investigators who delve into a series of supernatural events occurring in a neighborhood. Hawley's production company, 26 Keys, based in Austin, will produce the project. 26 Keys recently released "Alien: Earth," a critically acclaimed series based on the sci-fi franchise, which is slated for a second season. The company is also behind Hawley's anthology series "Fargo" and the FX series "Legion."

Hawley made his feature film directorial debut in 2019 with "Lucy in the Sky." He is also the author of six novels, including the 2022 release "Anthem." Rugna, who also directed the 2023 horror film "When Evil Lurks," is also involved in the project.

BNN's Perspective:

The pairing of Noah Hawley's creative vision with a remake of a well-regarded horror film presents an intriguing prospect. While remakes can be a mixed bag, Hawley's track record suggests a thoughtful approach to the material. The involvement of the original film's writer-director, Demian Rugna, is a positive sign, potentially ensuring the remake respects the source material while offering a fresh perspective. We remain cautiously optimistic about this project.
