Nintendo's Switch 2: Big Sales Predicted in First Year
Get ready, gamers! Nintendo is gearing up for the launch of its highly anticipated Switch 2 console, and the company is predicting a strong start. According to Nintendo's recent financial report, they anticipate selling a whopping 15 million Switch 2 consoles within the first 10 months of its release, which is slated for June 5th, 2026. This ambitious forecast puts the Switch 2 on track to potentially match the impressive launch of the original Switch, which sold 17.79 million units in its first 13 months.
The report also reveals that Nintendo is aiming to sell 45 million games alongside the new console. While the Switch 2 is expected to have a higher MSRP of $450 for the base model, Nintendo has factored in potential economic factors, including tariff rates, into its sales projections. Demand is already high, particularly in Japan, where preorders have exceeded expectations.
Despite a dip in net sales and profits in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Nintendo is optimistic about the future. They are predicting a significant 63% rise in net sales for the next financial year, which will include the Switch 2 launch. The original Switch continues to perform well, with lifetime sales reaching 152.12 million units. While game sales for the original Switch saw a slight decrease this year, popular titles like *Super Mario Party Jamboree* (7.48 million units) and *Mario Kart 8 Deluxe* (6.23 million units) continue to drive sales. The company is also worth over $100 billion based on share prices, signaling a healthy financial position as it prepares for the next generation of gaming.
