NHL Season Opens with Exciting Matchups
The NHL season kicked off Tuesday night with several exciting matchups across the league. In Sunrise, Florida, the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers edged out the Chicago Blackhawks with a 3-2 victory. Jesper Boqvist scored the game-winning goal in the third period. Sergei Bobrovsky, the Panthers' goaltender, made 17 saves, while Spencer Knight, the Blackhawks' goalie, recorded 34 saves.
Elsewhere, the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-1. Nathan MacKinnon's two assists propelled him to become Colorado's all-time points leader. Martin Necas scored two goals for the Avalanche, and Scott Wedgewood made 24 saves. Kevin Fiala scored the lone goal for the Kings.
