SAGINAW TWP, MI From new restaurants opening soon in Saginaw, Bay City and Mount Pleasant to a demolition planned on State Street in Saginaw Township, heres some recent business news you might have missed:
Ruths Chris Steak House coming to Mount Pleasants Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort
Ruths Chris Steak House, an upscale restaurant chain with locations in metro Detroit, West Michigan and across the country, is opening a new location in Mount Pleasant.
Michigans newest Ruths Chris will be opening this summer at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.
The sign has been hung and in June Ruth Chris will be open where Isabellas Italian restaurant used to be inside Soaring Eagle Hotel, reads a recent post on the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Facebook page. New housing development will be Kochvilles largest in 15+ years
A new 77-unit housing development is coming to Saginaw Countys Kochville Township.
BiBis Paradise Villas is under construction on a 15.3-acre parcel off Kochville Road, west of Bay Road and Kochville Veterans Hall.
They just broke ground a few weeks ago, said Kochville Township Manager Steve King. Its the largest, most significant residential development approved in Kochville in at least 15 years probably 20.

Shuttered LeFevres Family Bowl slated for demolition on State Street
After sitting vacant for about a year and a half, Saginaw Townships shuttered LeFevres Family Bowl will be demolished.
The former bowling alley, located at 6220 State St. in Saginaw Township, closed in the fall of 2021. PBD Development LLC purchased the property in December of that same year, according to township records.
Unfortunately, the cost of rehabbing the bowling alley in its current condition logistically just didnt make sense, said Nicole Northrup, who owns PBD Development with her husband, Kip Northrup.

How to apply for CMURCs first all-Black business accelerator in Saginaw
Central Michigan University Research Corporation (CMURC) is now accepting applications for Lift ME, an entrepreneurial program focused on accelerating Black-owned small businesses in Saginaw County.
Lift ME is CMURCs first all-Black business accelerator. Lift ME stands for Level the playing field, Increase representation, Foster new networks and Turn up financials for entrepreneurs, according to a CMURC news release.
The program will help business owners accelerate their businesses with trackable milestones and provide programming to allow participants to build community connections, develop skills and access service providers that support the continued growth of Black-owned businesses, the release states.

New car wash proposed for former Bennigans site in Saginaw Township
Another new car wash is being proposed for Saginaw Township, this time at the former Bennigans site on Tittabawassee Road.
Farmington, New York-based PJ Land Development LLC is requesting a special use permit approval to construct a 3,620-square-foot Tidal Wave Auto Spa at 3095 Tittabawassee Road. If approved, the existing former Bennigans restaurant would be demolished to make way for the new development.
Tidal Wave Auto Spa was founded in 1999 in Thomaston, Georgia and now has more than 145 locations in 21 states, according to the companys website.

Sips coffee shop opens in downtown Saginaw
A new coffee shop called Sips Downtown is offering coffee, tea, lemonade and more at downtown Saginaws SVRC Marketplace.
It opened Wednesday, March 1.
We cant wait for them, Rachel Caudy, general manager of the SVRC Marketplace and The BoardRoom restaurant, told MLive/The Saginaw News before the new coffee shop opened. This is their second home because they are the owners of Caf 476.
Heather Shephard, co-manager of Caf 476, 6235 Gratiot Road, said Sips offers coffee and espresso drinks, tea, lemonade, the cafes signature Shimmers, made with lemonade, sparkling water, custom flavors and popping pearls, bagels and doughnuts.

Bidding starts at $1.5M in upcoming Midland Mall auction
Another mid-Michigan shopping center could soon have new owners as the Midland Mall will be offered for sale in an online auction next month.
The starting bid for the shopping center home to Target, Barnes & Noble, Planet Fitness and other tenants is $1.5 million. Bidding will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, and conclude at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, according to the listing on rimarketplace.com.
The 358,827-square-foot Midland Mall was built in 1991 and is located on nearly 33 acres at 6800 Eastman Ave. in Midland. The mall has a net operating income of $764,795 and is 74%-occupied with tenants including Target, Planet Fitness, Dunhams and Hobby Lobby coming soon, according to the listing.

H2Os opening at former Bay City Hooters in time for summer
The owners of Os Pub & Grill in Auburn are preparing to open their new waterfront Bay City restaurant, H2Os waterside grill, just in time for summer, and excitement is mounting.
We get an amazing amount of traffic to our Facebook page as well as just people driving through the parking lot, peeking in windows, looking around, so its really great to see the excitement within the community around that location, said Marc Owczarzak, who owns both restaurants with his wife, Laura Owczarzak. Theres a lot of excitement around a second location.
The Owczarzaks new H2Os waterside grill will be located in the former Hooters building on the banks of the Saginaw River. Hooters, located at 966 E. Midland St., closed in 2019 after decades in business.
Long-awaited GeeQues Wood Smoked Barbecue opening soon
GeeQues Wood Smoked Barbecue is opening in Old Town Saginaw this spring in May.
Twannie L. and Georgette Gray aim to open the doors of their much-anticipated restaurant, located at 220 S. Michigan Ave., in May. Twannie L. Gray said people ask every day when GeeQues will be opening, and he and his wife look forward to offering their customers wholesome food, including some of their mothers recipes, quick service and a clean restaurant environment.
We want to offer homemade food, food with love, he said.
