Grayscale Launches Multi-Crypto ETF, Offering Diversified Exposure
New York, NY – Grayscale Investments has launched the first multi-token exchange-traded product (ETP) in the U.S., offering investors a diversified approach to cryptocurrency investment. The Grayscale CoinDesk Crypto 5 ETF, trading under the ticker GDLC, began trading on the NYSE on Friday.
The ETF bundles together five of the largest and most liquid digital assets: Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana, and Cardano. These five cryptocurrencies represent over 90% of the digital asset market capitalization, according to Grayscale.
The launch follows approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission, allowing Grayscale to convert its Digital Large Cap Fund into an ETF and allocate to multiple digital coins. This move signifies the increasing interest from both institutional and retail investors in diversified crypto exposure.
The fund's allocation is heavily weighted towards Bitcoin and Ether, with approximately 70% allocated to Bitcoin and 20% to Ether. The product has existed in other forms since 2018, most recently trading over the counter.
GDLC has shown strong performance, gaining over 40% in 2025, a period when many cryptocurrencies reached record highs. Since June, GDLC has outperformed Bitcoin by nearly 11%, driven by the strong performance of the other assets within the fund.
BNN's Perspective:
The launch of GDLC is a significant development, providing investors with a convenient way to gain exposure to a basket of cryptocurrencies. While the fund's heavy weighting towards Bitcoin and Ether reflects their dominance in the market, the inclusion of other assets offers diversification and potential for higher returns. This move aligns with the growing trend of mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies and could attract a broader range of investors to the digital asset space.
