Pune: Mylab Discovery Solutions and DnaNudge, a UK-based consumer genetics testing and medical diagnostics company have announced a strategic partnership to develop next-generation molecular diagnostic solutions for key public health concerns in India. The first point-of-decision testing kit to be co-developed by the companies will be a novel diabetic foot ulcer detection kit and will be introduced in the market in the next quarter of 2023.
The MoU was signed between the two companies in the presence of Dr Thaksin Shinawatra, Former Prime Minister, Thailand, Yingluck Shinawatra, Former Prime Minister, Thailand, Regius Professor Chris Toumazou, Co-founder, DnaNudge and Founder, Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Imperial College London, and Hasmukh Rawal, MD, Mylab.
The diagnostic kit will use point-of-decision molecular technology solutions to enable early identification of the spectrum of microbial flora in the ulcer, hence, supporting clinicians to plan appropriate antimicrobial therapy regimes. The companies claim that the test can identify the bacteria involved in the infection and provide molecular antimicrobial resistance (AMR) results in just over an hour, enabling personalised treatment and reducing the risk of AMR.
