After graduating from Keene State College in 1956, she began teaching in Hanover before moving to Chester, Vt., and finally settling in Walpole. Her innovative teaching methods, including a cultural exchange with a 5th-grade class in Houston, Texas, earned her the prestigious New Hampshire Teacher of the Year award in 1981, which included an invitation to a luncheon with President Ronald Reagan. Rogers was known for fostering lasting connections with her students and colleagues.

Beyond the classroom, Rogers was deeply involved in her community. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Walpole and a devoted supporter of the local Historical Society. Her love for animals was evident in her home, which was filled with dogs and cats, and her annual participation in the live Nativity scene with her donkey, Patrick. Rogers was known for her generosity, often sharing homemade treats with local businesses and carrying dog cookies for the town's canine residents.

Rogers' family was a source of great joy. She is survived by her three children, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters and a brother. She also maintained a nearly century-long friendship with a friend in Vancouver, Washington.
