Mango Founder's Son Arrested in Death Investigation

Madrid, Spain – Authorities have arrested Jonathan Andic, the son of Isak Andic, the founder of the global fashion brand Mango, in connection with his father's death. The arrest occurred Tuesday in northeastern Spain.

Isak Andic, 71, died in December 2024 while hiking with his son in the mountains near Barcelona. He fell approximately 500 feet from a cliff. Jonathan Andic, 45, was the only witness to the incident.

Initially, the police investigated the death and closed the case. However, the investigation was reopened in March 2025, and in October, authorities confirmed they were treating the death as a possible homicide.

Jonathan Andic was taken to court facilities in Martorell, where the case is being investigated. A spokesperson for the Catalan regional police, Mossos d'Esquadra, confirmed the arrest, citing department policy for anonymity due to the ongoing investigation. The case is currently under a nondisclosure order.

A family spokesperson has stated that Jonathan Andic is being questioned and that the family is fully cooperating with the investigation. The spokesperson also expressed confidence in Jonathan Andic's innocence.

Jonathan Andic is the eldest of Isak Andic's three children and serves as the vice chairman of the board at Mango. His father founded the company, opening its first store in Barcelona in 1984. Under Isak Andic's leadership, Mango expanded to become a major player in the fast-fashion industry, with 2,900 stores across 120 markets worldwide. In 2025, Mango reported record revenue of nearly 3.8 billion euros, an 11% increase from the previous year.

BNN's Perspective: This case is a tragic reminder of the complexities that can arise when personal and professional lives intersect. While the investigation is ongoing, it's crucial to allow the legal process to unfold without prejudgment. The family's confidence in Jonathan Andic's innocence highlights the emotional toll such investigations can take, regardless of the outcome.
