This new venture is distinct from the previously planned feature film biopic that was in development with Universal Pictures. That film, which was slated to star Julia Garner ("Ozark," "Inventing Anna") as Madonna, was put on hold in 2023 as Madonna launched her Celebration World Tour. While Madonna hinted at a possible revival of the film earlier this year, sharing a photo of herself working on a screenplay titled "Who's That Girl," it seems the focus has shifted to the limited series format.
