Lions Ink Draft Picks, Welcome Undrafted Rookies as Minicamp Kicks Off
Allen Park, MI - The Detroit Lions are officially welcoming their newest talent to the Motor City as rookie minicamp gets underway. The team announced the signing of four draft picks and the addition of ten undrafted free agents, signaling the start of the next phase of the Lions' offseason preparations.
Among the signed draft picks are LSU offensive guard Miles Frazier (Round 5), Boise State edge defender Ahmed Hassanein (Round 6), Georgia safety Dan Jackson (Round 7), and Georgia receiver Dominic Lovett (Round 7). While these players are now officially part of the team, several draft picks remain unsigned, including Ohio State defensive lineman Tyleik Williams (Round 1), Georgia offensive guard Tate Ratledge (Round 2), and Arkansas receiver Isaac TeSlaa (Round 3). It's common for rookies to participate in minicamp before finalizing their contracts.
The Lions are wasting no time getting their new players on the field. Rookie minicamp will run from Friday through Sunday in Allen Park. This early start is crucial as the Lions prepare for the upcoming season, including the Hall of Fame Game, which kicks off the NFL preseason. To accommodate the early start, the team has canceled its mandatory minicamp, originally scheduled for June 10-12. Instead, the team will hold Organized Team Activity (OTA) sessions from May 28-30 and June 3-5.
In addition to the drafted players, the Lions have also signed ten undrafted rookies, bolstering their roster with fresh talent. These players include: C Leif Fautanu (Arizona State), CB Gavin Holmes (Texas), TE Zach Horton (Indiana), WR Jakobie Keeney-James (UMass), S Ian Kennelly (Grand Valley State), WR Jackson Meeks (Syracuse), G Mason Miller (North Dakota State), TE Caden Prieskorn (Ole Miss), RB Kye Robichaux (Boston College), and RB Anthony Tyus III (Ohio).
The Lions' focus is now on building team chemistry and evaluating the new players as they prepare for the upcoming season.
